Exploring Your Vision Correction Options
Your glasses are a great option for vision correction, but for those seeking an alternative to glasses or contact lenses, laser eye surgery can be a great solution.
Our team provides comprehensive consultations for laser eye procedures, including LASIK, PRK, refractive lens exchange (RLE), and implantable intraocular contact lenses (ICLs).
Contact us to schedule your consultation today to explore your options and determine the best procedure for your needs.

The Laser Eye Surgery Process
Laser eye surgery reshapes the cornea to correct refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism (blurry vision far away and up close).
Our process begins with an eye assessment to evaluate your candidacy. From there, we guide you through each surgery option you may be curious about, explaining what to expect along the way.

Types of Laser Eye Surgery
At Huron Optometric Centres, we provide in-depth guidance on several laser eye surgery options, helping you make a well-informed decision.
During your laser eye surgery consultation, your eye doctor will conduct a series of tests and measurements to assess your suitability for the procedure. We’ll consider factors like corneal thickness, pupil size, and your current prescription.
If you’re deemed a good candidate for laser eye surgery, we’ll discuss the procedure’s benefits, your expectations, and the potential risks, and provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care details.
Custom LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) goes beyond traditional LASIK, using wavefront technology to analyze the unique characteristics of your eyes.
While standard LASIK aims to achieve the same vision clarity you get with glasses or contacts, custom LASIK refines this with a high-definition vision based on your eye’s unique profile. We also provide full post-surgical care and follow-up appointments for your recovery.
Custom photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is another effective option for vision correction. Unlike LASIK, PRK removes the cornea’s outer layer (epithelium) before reshaping the underlying tissue with a laser.
Though PRK has a longer recovery time, it’s suitable for patients with thinner corneas. With custom PRK, we aim to achieve vision clarity even beyond what glasses or contacts provide.
Refractive lens exchange (RLE) involves replacing the eye’s natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). It is ideal for individuals with presbyopia (age-related blurry vision), high hyperopia, and high myopia, and for those who are not candidates for LASIK or PRK.
ICLs offer a reversible vision correction option by implanting a contact lens directly into the eye. This procedure is beneficial for patients with high levels of myopia or other refractive issues that make them unsuitable for LASIK or PRK.
ICLs work alongside the eye’s natural lens, providing an effective solution for clear vision while maintaining corneal integrity.
